locks broken, clips failing under load, cold, very wet
35-40 knots up wind, confused sea-way and the boat launching
of every wave make for some very challenging conditions.
A spare headboard car was on our wish list also but
alas was unable to be acquired in time.
Co-owner Bill Buckley took a fall yesterday dislocating
his shoulder in the process, this meant sailing downwind
the wrong direction for some hours whilst onboard medics
relocated the limb.
Short of our sailing master George Hendy who suffered
chest pains on the day of departure, the crew are learning
the extent of his knowledge of the boat and the shortfalls
in their own.
Weather conditions make records hard to acheive for
this race, but the Maximus team have their backs to
the wall and havn't yet given up hope. Currently heading
upwind at 12.3 knots, 18 knots of wind from 124. All
crew are safe and well, a little tired and wet and running
on adrenaline and freeze dried food.
Best regards to all
