However the breeze filled in gradually bringing some
very pleasant sailing conditions of 12-18 knots and
finished the race near Poole opposite the Needles and
not far from Hearst Castle at 0122 hrs, an elapsed time
of 16 hours & 22 minutes and an average speed of
less than 10 knots.
Maximus performed well given the very light conditions
for the first third of the race to have beaten the Farr
52 over the line by some 3 hours. Unfortunately, Bear
of Britain beat Maximus by 3 minutes on corrected time
and so our overall result was third.
