ICAP Maximus Wins The Battle Of The Big Boats!

After being behind from the start (OCS) Maximus returned to the line and faught back to close the gap on Skandia Wild Thing in the closing stages of the upwind leg making a pass at a mark just off Poole after a 25 mile beat. After turning 100ft pair found themselves enjoying winds of 20 knots and upwards at stages which let ICAP Maximus open up a lead of almost a mile by the needles.

By the time they reached the finish line 24 gybes later at 15:33 Maximus had a lead of 8 minuets and completed the 51nm course in an elapsed time of just 4:23:14. Clearly owners Charles Brown and Bill Buckley were delighted that they were able to get one up over the competition ahead of the upcoming Fastnet Race.
