On the
back of a successful build up against Skandia Wild Thing
during the week the EBS Yachting team are about to embark
on what is one of the great offshore races.
The Fastnet is a biennial event that sees the fleet
depart from Cowes out the Solent and across the often
tempestuous Celtic Sea to the Fastnet Rock, and return
on a reciprocal course to the finish off Plymouth.
A 608 mile passage that will see the lead monohulls
chasing the record of 2 days, 5 hours, 8 minutes set
in 1999, a record that is high in contrast to the
inaugural Fastnet of 1925 which saw the winning boat
complete the course in 6days, 14hrs and 45mins.
