Fastnet Progress Report
[
08 / 08 / 2005 ]
The 2005
Rolex Fastnet has seen Maximus make steady progress
so far in varying conditions seeing boat speeds ranging
between 4 and 12 knots. Earlier position reports had
Maximus passing Portland Bill at 17:00 (August 7th).
With the race now entering its 18th hour the leaders
are out past lands end at the lizard with ICAP Maximus
still carrying a slender lead over the chasing pack.
Moviestar is hot on the heals of the 100ft Maxi just
a mile behind with reports of Skandia Wild Thing just
a mile behind Moviestar two miles off the lead after
a less than perfect start.
As the fleet works its way towards the Celtic Sea early
predictions of these three being the real contenders
of the event ring true and it looks like we have quite
a race on our hands.
