Approaching The Fastnet Rock

With less than 40 miles to the Fastnet Rock Maximus is experiencing light winds currently doing 4 knots in 3 knots of breeze with varying wind speeds throughout the night averaging a reasonable boat speed of 9 knots.

This is not unexpected however as the weather conditions were largely as predicted by the navigator Mike Quilter and his tactics are beginning to pay dividends as the weather changes and they gybe towards the rock with no other boats in sight and are estimating a lead of more than seven miles.
