ICAP Maximus
has been reported as the first of the fleet to round
the fastnet rock 1 day 15 hours and 13 minutes after
she left Cowes. The light conditions experienced over
the past hours have slowed the race pace somewhat making
the trip out the the lighthouse slightly longer than
that set in the 2003 race by Neville Crichton and Alfa
Romeo.
With still no positional reports for either Skandia
Wild Thing or Movistar available we will be sure to
keep you as up to date as possible. Further back in
the fleet there is a great battle between the leading
Open 60's with Mike Sanderson (who recently skippered
Mari-Cha IV against Maximus in the Transatlantic Challenge)
aboard Pindar AlphaGraphics holding a slender lead over
Virbac-Paprec and the chasing pack of 7others separated
by just a few miles.
