Centennary Newport - Bermuda Race Preview
[

The Newport to Bermuda Race course is one of the most interesting and challenging ocean courses on the EBS Calendar. The outcome of this race has traditionally been greatly effected by weather conditions in many cases seeing lower rated boats at the front of the fleet.
The Newport Bermuda Race is set to start on June 16, 2006, commemorating 100 years of this ocean racing classic. A record size fleet is anticipated as yachts from both sides of the Atlantic prepare to take part in the anniversary event.
Starting off Fort Adams, Newport, Rhode Island, the first 15 miles of the race are in the confluence of conflicting tidal currents which could see the fleet set for a tight finish as competitors try take stake their claim on the prestigious Lighthouse Trophies.
