Maximus Claws Back To 4th
[
21 / 06 / 2006 ]
After almost 100 hours on the water Maximus has been the 4th boat to cross the St. David’s Lighthouse finish line behind eventual race winner Bella Mente , Alchemy and Captivity.
It was a staggering late come back from Maximus who dropped as low as 48th position in the mid stages of the event when they were virtually becalmed with little or no wind to the east while those in the fleet that headed west were enjoying much more favourable conditions.
The team are obviously somewhat disappointed with the result as they know that if conditions had been better they would have had a good shot at a new race record in the centennial running of the event, it seems this was not meant to be. Congratulations to the crew of not only Bella Mente but everyone that took part in this race that will no doubt be remembered for years to come.
Further updates and a full race review will be posted shortly. Photo Credit: Laura Razzano
